Curriculum
Harvest of the Month
Seasonally fresh fruits or vegetables are delivered monthly to participating sites. Each participating teacher receives 1 box for their class with enough produce for students to have a taste. (Not enough for each student to have one whole fruit/vegetable) In each box are a series of grade level activities integrating nutrition education and core academic standards. PE teachers and after school coordinators can also participate. The Harvest of the Month will also be featured in the school site salad bar.
In addition, colorful monthly parent newsletters will be delivered to the school site for distribution during the week of produce delivery. The newsletters, printed in English and Spanish, provide parents with a variety of nutrition education tips, child-centered activities, additional resources, and recipes. The objective of Harvest of the Month is to expand student preferences to increase their consumption of fruits and vegetables.

Each participating classroom teacher will receive a BOYP materials kit and produce for their class to use during the course. This kit contains curriculum and non-perishable lesson supplies. As part of Botany on Your Plate 2 professional development sessions will be provided. Each professional development session will be 2 hours.
